Reshaping The Way The World Sees

Reshaping The Way The World Sees

GP Specialists, an industry leader in orthokeratology, has developed an advanced ortho-k lens design that has been shown to correct patients with high myopic powers.  The new iSee™ Ortho-k lens is based on its FDA approved FARGO™ ortho-k contact lens. The iSee™ corneal reshaping design incorporates a more aggressive treatment zone that allows practitioners to treat patients with higher degrees of myopia, thus increasing the number of likely candidates for ortho-k treatment. Mark Cosgrove, director of operations at GP Specialists states, “I’m very excited to take what I have learned over the years and incorporate it into an advanced ortho-k lens design.  We are seeing some amazing results.  I believe this design is unique in the industry, can provide faster results and also promote healthy long term wear for the patient.” Dr. Alice Cusner, from Village Vision Care in Cranton, Massachusetts, agrees with the amazing results and had this to say about her experience with iSee ortho-k lenses. “In only two weeks, I was able to correct a high myopic 9-year-old girl’s vision using iSee lenses. My patient and her parents are ecstatic!” Mark stated, “We rebranded the FARGO™...

Art Optical Answers Demand With Clasikcn

Art Optical is pleased to introduce CLASIKcn, a new custom GP multifocal lens designed for the growing number of post-LASIK patients struggling with near-vision demands. The lens features front surface, center-near technology specifically designed to provide a full range of simultaneous vision for post-LASIK corneas. CLASIKcn is a great option for those finding their surgically induced modified mono effect becoming inefficient as they advance in presbyopia, or for any post-refractive surgery patient encountering presbyopic progression. The mechanics of the CLASIKcn dual reverse geometry posterior curve system create alignment with both the post treatment area and the non-treated cornea outside of the ablation zone for a comfortable, stable fit; while the innovative and strategically placed optic system restores maximum distance, intermediate and near visual function. CLASIKcn is featured in reliable HDS materials with proven performance from Paragon Vision Sciences, and is backed by Art Optical’s Risk-Free Signature lens guarantee. Ortho-K, the Latest Non Invasive Corneal Correction Therapy

Ortho-K, the Latest Non Invasive Corneal Correction Therapy

Orthokeratology, or Ortho-K, the Latest Non Invasive Corneal Correction Therapy Orthokeratology, also referred to as Ortho-K or Corneal Refractive Therapy, is the use of a gas permeable contact lens worn for only portions of the day or at night to improve vision through the reshaping of the patient’s cornea. As a non surgical treatment, orthokeratology uses precisely shaped, reverse geometry, rigid gas permeable contact lenses to temporarily reshape the cornea and ease or eliminate myopia (nearsightedness) so that patients can see better at distance without wearing eye glasses or contact lenses for long periods of the day. Some of the advantages to orthokeratology are that it is a non invasive, non surgical correction method. It is available to a high number of patients. It quickly gives a patient freedom from constant wearing of corrective lenses – either eye glasses or contacts – without surgery such as LASIK, which is laser assisted refractive surgery for correcting myopia and astigmatism. Orthokeratology, as a non invasive treatment, can be re-adjusted as the patient’s eyes and vision change over time; whereas LASIK may have to be repeated a few times over a patient’s...
Aqua Shield Plasma Treatment

Aqua Shield Plasma Treatment

If you have chosen Gas Permeable (GP) contact lenses, you know benefits of GP over other contact lenses. Eye health is a big advantage because GP lenses allow your eye to breath, which prevents corneal problems over time. Also, protein is less likely to build up which causes cloudy vision and can lead to bacteria residue. GP lenses are also more rigid and less likely to tear which means they don’t need to be replaced as often as soft contact lenses. They do, however, require an adaptation period. Since GP lenses are more rigid they are not as instantly comfortable as soft contact lenses. Many people who wear contact lenses are not willing to endure the temporary discomfort and there are times when GP lenses fail to “wet” and adhere securely to the eye, which can also lead to blurry or fluctuating vision. Most often GP lenses fail to “wet” because of residue from the manufacturing process or oils & soaps from handling them. Recently two contact lens manufacturers, Paragon Vision Sciences and Bausch & Lomb received FDA clearance to plasma treat their lens materials. Plasma treatment has been used for some time to remove organic and inorganic contamination from metal,...

The Benefits of Wearing Orthokeratology

The Benefits of Wearing Orthokeratology

Orthokeratology, rigid gas-permeable contact lenses, is usually worn during the night to enhance or improve eyesight or vision by reshaping one’s cornea. Instead of wearing contact lenses or eyeglasses every day or even undergoing refractive surgery, it’s a good method to achieve a clear vision enough to perform your responsibilities by day. Actually eye doctors discovered the reshaping of the cornea eye treatment by using glass lenses during the 1940s. The early designs of ortho-k exhibited irregular and unpredictable outcomes, which made people think it not so effective. But now with the development of computers and measuring instruments special overnight lenses theory in reshaping the cornea has created new designs presenting effective and repeatable results. Most people think that the special overnight lenses utilized in ortho-k reshape the eye’s cornea by budging the epithelial cells that envelop the cornea’s surface. Several studies show that the epithelial cells pack together in some regions and may also be repositioned. One of the usual misconceptions in the special overnight lenses design is that they force down on the cornea and eventually flatten the...

Paragon Vision Sciences offers CRT

Paragon Vision Sciences offers CRT

Paragon Vision Sciences has been granted approval by the US FDA for its Paragon CRT Corneal Refractive Therapy contact lens – this new approach involves wearing special contact lenses overnight to achieve corneal reshaping for the temporary reduction of myopia. The approval is the culmination of years of research and development including an extensive clinical study to establish the safety and efficacy of contact lens corneal reshaping in overnight use. The study involved 11 investigational sites and 205 patients. It was designed for overnight lens wear only and patient follow-up was for nine months. Patients in the study achieved the following visual results based on binocular vision: 93.3% with 20/32 or better and 67.4% with 20/20 or better. In the FDA study lifestyle questionnaire, 91.7% of patients rated their post-treatment unaided daytime vision as good to excellent while rating their vision good to excellent at 91.5% with their previous vision correction modality. There were no serious adverse events reported in the study. The approved indications cover individuals with up to -6.00 diopters of myopia with or without astigmatism up to -1.75 diopters. The...
