On the opening day of the annual meeting, President Bill Clinton announced a $12 million grant from businessman and philanthropist Tom Golisano to the Special Olympics, which will allow for the launch of a new Healthy Communities initiative. Highlighting September as National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and honoring 50 years of finding cures and saving children, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital released a new video set to the iconic Beatles song “Hey Jude.” Featuring St. Jude patients, hospital staff, notable actors, musician and sports stars, the video emphasizes all those who have joined forces to “make it better” for children with cancer and other deadly diseases. Featured in this video is Daisy Fuentes, who has been a loyal supporter of St. Jude since 1997. Fuentes is dedicated to helping the hospital through promotional and fundraising campaigns. She most recently hosted the 10th annual FedEx/St. Jude Angels and Stars Gala in May, celebrating the 50th anniversary of St. Jude.
