‘Lattice’ by the Dolabany Eyewear Collection in Mauve… A Best Image Optical eyewear designer had this to say about designing the frame: Concept “The idea behind our ‘Lattice’ frame came to me while visiting a clothing vintage shop in Biscayne Bay, Florida. While there, the vintage collector who wears Dolabany frames showed our team this beautiful pink Victorian style lace dress from the 1930’s in mint condition as an option to use it for our new Dolabany photo shoot coming up later this year. This pink lace dress was full of details without coming across as “too much” – a perfect balance that sometimes as designers we willfully forget. After being inspired by the dresses’ interlaced design, the word “lattice’ came to mind. The ‘Lattice’ frame needed to be simple in design while highlighting a contrasting pattern. Other patterns that inspired the ‘Lattice’ frame were Damask, Flames, and Victorian. Colors “The first color I thought of for the ‘Lattice’ frame was mauve. ‘Gianna’ by the Dolabany Eyewear Collection in Black & Blue A Best Image Optical eyewear designer had this to say about designing the frame: Concept “Gianna started off as a vintage inspired design one Sunday afternoon at a neighborhood terrace. It’s actually a great place to be inspired, a handful of blueberries to snack on, tall majestic trees, blue jays chirping, blue butterflies dancing in the air and the sound of a calming warm breeze all around you. Though the Gianna frame originally started with vintage aspirations for our Dolabany Collection, it turned out to be a lot more modern than it intended it to be. Once a modern frame front was drawn, its temples were an easy design to come up with given all the nature around me.” Colors “When I first drew the Gianna frame it was a clear afternoon. I had just witness a beautiful sunset and it was the moment in the evening that’s between daylight and darkness – twilight. ‘Clover’ by the Dolabany Eyewear Collection in Tiger Black A Best Image Optical eyewear designer had this to say about designing the frame: Concept “Creating retro eyewear is truly gratifying for me. When I get to design them I always start with a round frame. For this style: ‘Clover’, I wanted to create a smaller round frame to include in our Dolabany Collection and modernize it a bit from the other round retro frames in the collection. The ‘Clover’ design replaces the typical vintage bridge key-hole for a modern smooth bridge. To complement the near perfect round frame, I used circular plates for its hinges.” Colors “I love color. However, when re-creating the vintage look I prefer to use colors associated with its style. My favorite color on the ‘Clover’ is Tiger Black, a combination of deep yellow with black. There is so much depth in these colors that it just inspires my senses. I can’t take credit for this color combination as it’s so common in nature. Its shields and thick bridge were incorporated in its design to give it some vintage flare.” Colors “The gradient color goal was mahogany red and grey. The color combination reminded me of the fall season in Central Park, New York. How the autumn foliage can reach a dark red color tone is beyond me. The acetate was carefully chosen to reach a beautiful color combination between a worn type mahogany wood panels and the smoke gradient color of one of my favorite animals, the Gray wolf.” Shape “Romco’s shape is a basic block frame. This is my favorite shape when I ‘m focusing on gradient color tones because I can easily transition the colors.
